Why did you leave Anthony Nolan to join Breast Cancer Now?

Well, I’d been at Anthony Nolan for seven years and had a great time there, but figured it was probably the right time for me to move on. When I was looking for my next role, I wanted to work for a charity that was making more money, so I wanted to go for something larger scale. Particularly, I wanted a charity where people had a really strong personal connection to the cause. I’d done a lot of work at Anthony Nolan with relationship fundraising, and was fascinated to see whether that approach could be made to work at scale with a much bigger cause, higher public awareness and more supporters.

How will you achieve that aim?

We’ve got quite a similar group of supporters to the ones that I worked with at Anthony Nolan. People who are hugely committed to the charity; people who’ve got the most intense personal and emotional reasons for supporting us. The intensity of emotional link is there, which is fantastic.
