What do you think is the current state of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the sector?

I think the conversation has moved on quite a lot over recent years. Three or four years ago the focus was mainly on gender equality in the workplace, which of course is still an important and pressing issue. But since the death of George Floyd and the outpouring of anger and grief from young people around the world, I feel the focus has shifted and the issues around EDI have become more urgent.

As a sector, we still have a long way to go, but I am encouraged by some of the practical steps that are being taken by organisations such as Shelter to address the issues that we have been talking about for many years now. I feel that we have moved past the discussion phase and must now apply practical measures.
