Today the Paul Hamlyn Foundation unveiled its new strategy. Its chief executive, Moira Sinclair, tells Kirsty Weakley what it hopes to achieve and what it expects from potential grantees.

Moira Sinclair says she wants to “create an environment where there is genuine dialogue”, with Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s new strategy outlining its vision for more openness in the sector.

She joined the Paul Hamlyn Foundation earlier this year when the charity was already part of the way through the process of developing its new strategy. Its previous chief executive, Martin Brookes, left he charity last summer “by mutual agreement” after 13 months in the job.

Before joining PHF Sinclair spent ten years at the Arts Council, most recently as its executive director for London and the South East, and previously ran a small arts organisation.  So she has experience from both sides of the funding process.

In her time at the Arts Council she says she is proud of “helping to open it up” from an organisation that had been “impermeable to those outside of it”.
