The UK government has recognised that walking and cycling play an important part in helping the country to stay resilient while weathering the Covid-19 pandemic. In the last year alone, Sustrans has delivered 203 miles of walking and cycling routes in partnership with local and national decision-makers. As custodians of the Nation Cycle Network, which celebrates its 25th birthday this year, we are providing signed routes and paths for millions of people to help them walk, cycle and wheel for local journeys and explore the outdoors across the UK.

Sustrans employs more than 500 people across offices in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Many of our employees work side by side with local and national government employees. Alongside this, we have a large network of volunteers who help maintain places that are both cycle and pedestrian-friendly.
