Applications are now open for £1m worth of funding available for a collaboration of charities who will work together on their dream project.

The People’s Postcode Lottery is asking charities in Great Britain to think of their dream project, which can be created over a 24-month period, and apply to the Dream Fund to help make it a reality.

As the Fund enters its fifth year, the £1m on offer is the largest ever Dream Fund to date. A first prize of £750,000 and a runner up prize £250,000 can be won. Previous winners of the Dream Fund include WWF and Missing People. The Fund has so far invested more than £1.4m to over 15 projects.

Of every £2 ticket for the People’s Postcode Lottery, 50p is awarded to charity and a total of £47.2m has so far been raised for charities and good causes across Great Britain and globally to date.

Clara Govier, head of charities at the People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “The Dream Fund is an opportunity for charities to finally work on a project they have always dreamed of. It’s designed to encourage charities and community projects to work together on a project that has always been just too big, or too expensive.”

Every application to the Dream Fund must come from a collaboration of charities. The lead organisation must be a registered charity and the other partners must be not for profit organisations.

Projects should aim to meet one of the following criteria: advancement of participation in sports, advancement of community development, advancement of environmental protection, advancement of health, advancement of human rights or prevention of poverty, distress and sickness

Commonwealth and Olympic Games Scottish cyclists Aileen McGlynn OBE and James McCallum, ambassadors to Dream Fund 2014’s winner Play on Pedals, visited the site to announce next year’s award (pictured).

Applications are open until 30 September, with winners being announced at a Charity Gala held in January 2015.
