Acevo, the infrastructure body for charity chief executives, has launched a new strategy focused on improving its offering for its membership, and will also begin its search for a new chair.
The charity said its strategy will aim to achieve five clear goals: inspiration, support, connections, advocacy and skills. It said it will:
- Inspire leaders by showcasing good leadership
- Support members at all stages of their career
- Build a network and community to offer more peer support and widen the reach of its services
- Amplify the voices of members and represent their interests
- Develop the skills and competencies of civil society leaders
Paul Farmer, chief executive of Mind and chair of Acevo, has stepped down from the latter role earlier than expected due to a family illness. Joe Irvin, former vice chair and chief executive of Living Streets, will lead the charity’s board and recruitment process until the charity’s AGM in December.
The application process for chair is open to all Acevo full or associate members, regardless of length of service.
Vicky Browning, chief executive of Acevo, said: “We are looking for a leader who can chair with an enabling and inclusive approach in order to bring out the best of board members and the executive team. We’d like to talk to candidates that have a depth of experience, but a lightness of touch.
“We would like applications from those who share our vision and values and who believe that good governance that allows us to get closer to that vision is energising and exciting.”
