Asheem Singh, the director of public policy and former interim chief executive of Acevo, will leave the organisation with immediate effect, Acevo said today.
Acevo has not confirmed whether he will be moving to a new role. His position will not be replaced.
Singh joined Acevo as director of public policy three and a half years ago, and served as interim chief executive between the departure of Sir Stephen Bubb in June and the arrival of Vicky Browning at the end of last month as permanent chief executive.
'Will continue to speak and write widely'
Singh said he would “continue to speak and write widely” and was releasing his first book, The Moral Marketplace, at the end of September, which he says “outlines an ambitious vision for the role of social leadership in wider society”.
“I would like to thank Sir Stephen Bubb with whom it was a pleasure to work, and also to the Acevo board and Acevo chair Paul Farmer, who has been a valuable mentor,” he said.
“I am and will always remain a well-wisher and admirer of and fellow traveller with our nation's charity and social enterprise leaders, workers, supporters and volunteers.
“I have never been more inspired than when visiting an Acevo member's project or talking to the people they support each and every day."
Acevo statement
An Acevo statement said: “During his time with Acevo, both as interim chief executive and previously as director of public policy, Asheem Singh has been at the forefront of policy thinking in the third sector.
“As interim CEO, Asheem not only led Acevo towards its future following the departure of Sir Stephen Bubb but, while at the helm, achieved a major national accomplishment - that of being instrumental in the quashing of the anti-advocacy clause.
“The board and Acevo’s new chief executive Vicky Browning would like to thank Ash for the contribution he has made over the past three and a half years. We appreciate his commitment to Acevo and its members, and we wish him well for the future.”
