David Emerson is stepping down as chief executive of the Association of Charitable Foundations later this year.
Emerson has been chief executive of the ACF, the umbrella body for grantmaking foundations, for 14 years but is stepping down at the end of November. He will continue to work one day a week for a couple of months to help the transition.
He told Civil Society News that he plans to do “part-time work” in the sector and to continue to support charitable foundations.
Emerson said he felt this was the right moment to step back from the role.
“It’s a wonderful job,” he said. “But it’s the right time for ACF to have new leadership, energy and vision as we are just coming to the end of one strategic cycle and are just starting the next strategic plan.”
He was awarded a CBE in the 2015 New Year Honours List.
ACF posted a job advert with the Times which said the deadline to apply is 12 September.
