A charity fund has been set up by Gary Barlow fans aiming to raise £100,000 for the stillbirth and neonatal death charity Sands after the singer’s baby was delivered stillborn earlier this week.

The former Take That star’s daughter Poppy died in hospital in London on Saturday, two weeks before she was due to be born, and a page has now been set up on fundraising website JustGiving, describing the move as "a mark of respect".

A statement on the JustGiving page says: "As fans and many of us as parents we all want to show love and support to the Barlow family. Here we can make a difference, and leave united messages of love and support. This is a united donation from all Gary Barlow and TT (Take That) fans."

At the time of publication, over £6,000 has been raised towards the £100,000 target.

Barlow responded to the move on Twitter yesterday, writing: "Your kind words and lovely messages are overwhelming. Thank you."
