The British Heart Foundation plans to open around 80 furniture and electrical charity stores over the next two years to capitalise on the success of its current outlets.

The British Heart Foundation plans to open around 80 furniture and electrical charity stores over the next two years to capitalise on the success of its current outlets.

A BHF spokeswoman says these specialist stores are opening at a rapid pace due to their success:  “We have 40 planned to open this year,” she said, “and 40 more next year.”

BHF currently has over 120 furniture and electrical stores in the UK which raise £26m annually. Its next store will open on Burton high street in July.

But it will face some competition there, as St Giles Hospice also plans to open a furniture and electrical store in Burton high street this summer.

St Giles' 5,000 sq ft charity store will sell electrical items, including washing machines and fridges, furniture, clothing, gifts and toys.
