The British Red Cross has today launched a charity shops loyalty card, rewarding customers with points for spending in its stores nationwide.

Following a successful pilot in 2011, the international humanitarian organisation is introducing the ‘Give and Gain’ loyalty card to reward supporters who shop regularly at its stores.

The card allows customers to gain points in exchange for their purchases and helps them to gift aid their stock donations.

Red Cross is giving customers who sign up at one of its 320 shops 10 per cent off their first purchase as well as the opportunity to earn double points in their first week as a loyalty card holder.

Every pound spent earns one point and customers will be given vouchers according to the number of points gained. The vouchers can then be used in store or if customers prefer, they can donate their points back to the Red Cross.

Miranda Bradley, retail development manager at the Red Cross, said: “Our shops have a loyal customer following and it is important to make them feel special. Without the loyalty of our regular customers, we simply wouldn’t be able to reach people when they need us most.”

British Red Cross maintained its position as seventh-highest ranking charity retail chain in terms of total income in the Charity Shops Survey 2012, pulling in £1.8m more than in 2011.
