The application window for the Charity Awards 2017 opens today.
Since 2000, the Charity Awards has recognised excellence in the leadership and management of charities. The Awards provide a perfect opportunity for you to propel your charity’s work into the spotlight, to influence policy-makers and funders and to boost the morale of your staff and stakeholders.
The application deadline for the 18th annual Charity Awards, sponsored by Charities Aid Foundation for the 13th consecutive year, is Friday 3 March 2017.
You may enter any type of project or campaign and it will be judged by a distinguished panel of sector leaders against entries from other organisations in your own sector. The judges will assess each entry against our ten Hallmarks of Excellence.
Judging will take place in April and the shortlist will be announced on Civil Society News and charityawards.co.uk on Wednesday 10 May.
The Charity Awards programme will culminate in a sparkling gala presentation ceremony and dinner on Thursday 8 June, this year at an impressive new venue – The Pavilion, in the grounds of the Tower of London.
Samantha Lane, head of fundraising, marketing and communications at the Trussell Trust, winner of the Overall Award at the 2016 Charity Awards, had some words of encouragement for anyone thinking about entering.
She said: “We decided to enter the Trussell Trust for the Charity Awards to help raise our profile as a charity – lots of people are aware of foodbanks now and have seen the work that this amazing movement does, but far fewer were aware of the Trussell Trust and our role in leading the largest network of foodbanks in the UK.
“Having a higher profile will always help us to raise funds and develop effective partnerships to help more people in need of course, so we decided to give it a go. The whole process was simple and the team at Civil Society Media were really supportive – the result was a wonderful surprise, we’d have been happy with category winner! To get the Overall Award is an absolute honour and one we are very proud of.
“It was terrific to be able to share the news with our network of foodbanks, who provide the support on the ground to people in need – so it’s very much their award. And we also shared it with our supporters, because they are what makes all this work possible.
“There is no doubt the boost to our profile is helping us to attract new donors and partners to help us deliver services. As a result, we will be feeling the benefit of the award for years to come – and most importantly so will the people who need our support.”
