Last year 71 charities, which between them have over 6,450 shops, took part. For the first time in 15 years it showed a decline in shop numbers, as more shops were closed than opened, while wages continued to increase, so did income at a greater rate leading to charity retail profits increasing for the first time in three years.

This year’s survey will track whether these trends continue, as well as finding out more about how charities are responding to a growth in rag price, whether charity shops are moving away from the high street, whether specialist boutique shops are growing in popularity, and whether charity retail is moving online.

Now in its 28th year, the Charity Shops Survey provides essential benchmarking information and analysis of key charity retail trends and performance figures. Over the years it has served as an invaluable source of information for charities, retailers, supporters, and analysts alike.

The survey results will be published in October by Charity Finance and Fundraising Magazine and will also be available here at civilsociety.co.uk.

If you would like to see how your results will be presented in the published survey, please tick the box at the start of the questionnaire.
