Chief executive of Admiral and wife jointly invest further £20m into charity

The chief executive of Admiral Insurance, Henry Engelhardt and his wife, Diane Briere de l’Isle have made a £20m investment into the Moondance Foundation – a charity they founded together in 2010.

The chief executive and founder of Admiral Insurance, Henry Engelhardt and his wife, Diane Briere de l’Isle have made a £20m investment into the Moondance Foundation – a charity they founded together in 2010.

The foundation’s latest accounts on the Charity Commission, for the financial year to November 30 2013, show it had an annual income of £37.4m with an annual spend of around £5m.

The charity also had £77.1m worth of long-term investment.

The Moondance Foundation is registered in Cardiff and provides donations to causes in Wales, as well as around the globe, which focus on issues such as: children, education, poverty, health, healthcare and research and the arts and humanities.

The Moondance Foundation has five listed trustees – including Engelhardt (pictured) and Briere de L'isle but has no full-time employees.

According to Wales Online, the £20m was raised when the pair donated 1.3m worth of shares they jointly own in Admiral Insurance to the charity.
