The Charity Commission is trialling new contact centre opening hours, to “enhance our customer service and better accommodate customer needs”, it has said.
The regulator has extended its contact centre opening hours by two hours each day for a trial period.
The trial began on 1 May and the Commission has said that it will last for three months.
The new hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to midday and 1pm until 4pm. Previously, the centre was open from 10am to midday and 1pm to 3pm on the same days.
Last October the Charity Commission published a five-year statement of strategic intent, which included an ambition to provide more help and support to charities.
It said that it wanted to give charities “the understanding and tools they need to succeed” through publishing more guidance to the sector. The statement said: “our goal as a regulator is to help charities to fulfil the purposes for which they were created by working with them as well as monitoring them.”
A spokesperson said the Commission would be publishing “further information” about the delivery of the new strategy in “due course”.
