The Disasters Emergency Committee and its 14 members have raised £27m over a two-week nationwide fundraising drive that closed this week.
This includes £4m matched by the UK government, donations from the public, media, corporate partners and institutional donors.
The appeal will stay open for another six months and the public can continue to donate.
80 per cent of funds for emergency relief
The DEC Cyclone Idai Appeal was broadcast across media, including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky in the last two weeks to raise emergency funds for the disaster.
Cyclone Idai hit in mid-March, killing over 750 people and leaving three million needing humanitarian assistance.
DEC members are working with national partners to support government-led relief efforts in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
The 14 DEC member charities will be allocated an initial tranche of around 80 per cent of the money raised in the appeal for emergency relief work in the first six months.
Smaller allocations over a typical 18-month period will continue relief efforts and fund recovery, reconstruction and resilience work.
The primary and immediate focus of the relief effort is to save lives and offer temporary shelter and blankets to people who lost homes.
