The current chair of the Scottish Charity Regulator has been reappointed by the Scottish government to hold the position on the board for another four years.
The Very Reverend Dr Graham Forbes (pictured), provost of St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh, has held the position since 2011. His reappointment will run from 1 March 2015 to 28 February 2019. John Swinney, deputy first minister and cabinet secretary for finance, constitution and economy announced the reappointment yesterday.
Forbes, who remains as chair of the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland and of the Court of Edinburgh Napier University, has spent his entire working life in the voluntary sector. He is a former chair of the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission and was awarded the CBE in 2004 for public service in Scotland.
The role is part-time, requiring a commitment of 2.5 days for which he will receive a remuneration of £270 per day. As chair of the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland, he receives £338 per day for a commitment of 2 days per month. However, Forbes pays both fees directly to St Mary’s Cathedral.
The Scottish Government said Forbes has not undertaken any political activity in the last five years.
