Friends of the Earth has reportedly agreed not to repeat claims it made in an anti-fracking leaflet, following complaints to the Advertising Standards Agency.
Reports in national news media today say that the charity has “agreed not to repeat the claims” after the case was informally resolved by the advertising regulator.
The ASA has informally resolved the case with Friends of the Earth, rather than issuing a ruling, after energy company Cuadrilla claimed one of the charity’s fundraising leaflet was misleading.
Friends of the Earth’s leaflet had claimed that chemicals used in fracking were dangerous to health.
Cuadrilla complained to the ASA in October 2015, saying that the leaflet showed a picture of a site where no fracking is taking place and the claims about the chemicals were inaccurate.
Friends of the Earth has indicated that it will continue to campaign against fracking.
