An autism charity has said it is no longer working with Gregg Wallace after allegations of inappropriate sexual comments by the TV show host were made this week.
Wallace, who has presented the BBC cooking competition MasterChef for 19 years, stepped aside from his hosting role yesterday while allegations of historical misconduct are investigated by production company Banijay UK.
The presenter, whose son is autistic and non-verbal, has been an ambassador for Ambitious about Autism since June last year.
Today, Ambitious about Autism confirmed to Civil Society that it is no longer working with Wallace.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “In light of recent allegations, we are no longer working with Gregg Wallace.
“We have let him know our decision and thanked him for his support of our work over the last two years.”
The charity has removed Wallace from its list of patrons online.
Wallace’s lawyers reportedly said it is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature.
In an Instagram post on Thursday evening, Wallace said: “I would like to thank all the people getting in touch, reaching out and showing their support.”
Wallace was awarded an MBE for services to food and charity last year.
In October 2022, he hosted TalkTalk’s annual fundraising gala Night of Ambition, which raised over £400,000 in support of autistic children and young people.
