Women’s charities can now bid on the latest £15m on funding from the Tampon Tax Fund, Tracey Crouch, minister for civil society, has announced today.
Grants of at least £1m are available for women’s charities that support mental health and wellbeing and tackle violence against women and girls, as well as for projects that aim to reduce drug and alcohol abuse and engage excluded and vulnerable women through sport. A total of £15m is available for the 2018/19 round of funding.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport said that applications are particularly welcomed from organisations that support women and girls across multiple regions.
Crouch said: “The Tampon Tax Fund is already making a real difference to the lives of women and girls across the country. We are ensuring that the money generated from sanitary products continues to support good causes and address the serious issues that women of all ages face.”
DCMS said that all grants from this round of funding may be provided for one or two year projects. All activities must be delivered and funds must be spent by March 2020.
The fund was created in order to allocate the funds generated from the VAT on sanitary products to projects that improve the lives of disadvantaged women and girls. It was first announced by the then Chancellor George Osborne in the 2015 Autumn Statement.
The deadline for applications closes at midnight on Sunday 28 January 2018. For more information or to apply, click here.
