The Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales has appointed former chief executive of Diabetes UK Paul Streets as its new CEO.
Streets will join the organisation on 1 May as the replacement for Linda Kelly, who left the Foundation in December 2012 after six years in the role.
His current position is at the Department of Health, where he has been director of public and patient engagement and experience since 2009. Streets is also chairman of Contact a Family, a UK charity supporting families of children with severe disabilities which has an income of £5m and 150 staff.
A spokeswoman for the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales told civilsociety.co.uk that since Kelly had been with the organisation for nearly seven years, she felt it was time for a change. She began full-time postgraduate study last month.
Ian Diamond, chair of the Foundation, said of the new appointment: “We are very pleased that Paul has decided to join the Foundation. He impressed the board of trustees and senior management team with his extensive leadership skills and voluntary sector and civil service experience.”
Streets himself commented: “I am delighted to be joining the Foundation as chief executive and look forward to taking up this challenging role providing much needed support to small and medium sized-charities, particularly during this difficult economic climate.”
Prior to this role, Streets has held the positions of chief executive at the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (2005 to 2009); deputy chairman at the Healthcare Commission (2002 to 2009); chief executive of Diabetes UK; and chief executive of the Health Development Agency (2003 to 2005). He was appointed OBE in 2003 for services to people with diabetes.
