Marie Stopes International reported its highest ever income of £242m last year, thanks to a £32.6m boost in grant funding, its latest accounts show.
The women's health charity's income is up £30m from the previous year and £112m over the past five years, the accounts show - a 14 per cent increase from last year and an 86 per cent increase from 2010.
The Department for International Development was the largest single funder. It provided £45.3m of funding last year, up from £27.5m in 2013.
Simon Cooke, chief executive of Marie Stopes, said the charity “was able to give more women than ever before the power to choose” – providing contraception to over 18 million women across 37 countries.
The charity spent £99.7m on staff costs last year – an increase of £6.6m from 2013 – with the highest earner taking home a salary of between £370,000 and £380,000.
