New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) has appointed business entrepreneur Jonathan Simmons as its next chief executive.
Simmons will replace Dan Corry, who announced his decision to step down in May after almost 13 years at the helm, when he takes up the position on 1 November.
He comes from an innovation, social impact and entrepreneurship background and has 25 years of experience working at the intersection of business and social-impact organisations.
Simmons co-founded experiences company Yuup and is a trustee of JW3 and Prism the Gift.
Previously, he founded and led several businesses including digital agency Zone and has been a trustee of Shelter UK.
‘Ideal person to lead NPC through its next phase’
NPC said Simmons was joining the organisation “at a time of great opportunity”.
“These are exciting times for the impact sector with so many innovative projects and new ways of working, combined with motivated wealth holders and a new government looking to tackle the big issues of our time,” the think tank said in a statement.
“NPC’s experienced staff and deep knowledge perfectly positions us to support organisations and individuals trying to have a positive impact on the communities around them.”
On his appointment, Simmons said: “NPC wants maximum social impact, and has the people and tools to help those that share that ambition, deliver it.
“To join such a capable and purpose-driven organisation is an honour.”
Vaughan Lindsay, chair of NPC’s trustee board, said: “We’re delighted and excited to have Jonathan join NPC as its new CEO.
“Jonathan’s focus on achieving impact combined with his breadth of experience across different purpose led sectors and organisations makes him the ideal person to lead NPC through its next phase.”
