Oxfam GB is restructuring its senior leadership team and has created a new post of chief finance officer.
The charity is currently looking for someone to fill the new role and said its current finance director, Alison Hopkinson, who has held the role for four years, is planning to leave.
Oxfam is developing a new 10-year strategy, which includes “creating a more focused organisation including streamlined and more inter-connected divisions, of which finance is one”.
A spokesperson said: “Alison Hopkinson, has decided to leave to explore new opportunities. We thank her for her hard work and commitment during the last four years.
“We are currently conducting a strategic review of our operations to ensure that we adapt to a changing world, live our values and are as effective as possible in fighting poverty over the next 10 years. The position of chief finance officer is new and will be an integral part of the new structure.”
The chief finance officer will establish the new finance division and be “a core member of the strategic leadership team”. The annual team budget is around £3m.
The new role will also involve evolving Oxfam’s working culture.
In the application pack, Danny Sriskandarajah, chief executive at Oxfam, said: “We are in the midst of transforming one of Britain’s largest and most complex charities, modernising it and making it better fit for future purpose.
“We are looking for someone who can help us design and deliver a financial strategy for the next few years, enhance our impact on the world, and build a resilient organisational model with strong financial controls. I am also looking for someone who can embody the values and aspirations that we stand for; someone who has excellent technical skills but, importantly, is also an inclusive, accountable and empowering leader.”
