Pancreatic Cancer UK has announced a new brand identity, and will also be changing the way it communicates.

The charity, which recorded an income of £11.5m in the year to March 2023, said the total cost of developing the brand was around £85,000.

Pancreatic Cancer UK said it commissioned the GOOD Agency to do the rebrand after “a competitive tendering process”.

A spokesperson for the charity said its new strategy aims to double survival rates for people with pancreatic cancer and to achieve this the charity “need to be bolder to demand attention”.

They said pancreatic cancer “has been overlooked and left behind” and the rebrand will help the charity to reach more people while “galvanising” its current supporters.

Communications change

Alongside its new logo and animation, the charity said it is also changing the way it communicates, “with new, bolder and stronger messaging to demand attention and drive action”.

This, the charity said in a statement, “will enable the charity to make a clear, more compelling case for why the disease must be urgently prioritised; help it attract more financial supporters; and reach more people in need of its award-winning support services.”

It said that more than 1,000 members of the pancreatic cancer community were consulted via surveys, while more than 20 focus groups were held involving over 100 people.

The charity said it would continue to use existing stocks of printed materials with its old branding first to reduce wastage and environmental impact.

‘A bolder voice’

Diana Jupp, chief executive of Pancreatic Cancer UK, said: “For 50 years the deadliest common cancer has been left behind, overlooked, and underfunded leaving people with pancreatic cancer and their families with little more than hope to hold on to.

“Their voices have gone unheard for too long. Now, they will be impossible to ignore.

“I am incredibly grateful to the huge range of people from across our community – particularly those directly affected by pancreatic cancer – who have been with us every step of the way on this project.

“Working alongside the talented team at the GOOD Agency, they have helped us find the bolder voice we need to reach more people in need of our support, help us fund more vital research, and deliver the clear message that people affected by this devesting disease are done playing catch up.

“People with pancreatic cancer deserve more: more research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope.”
