James Codrington has left his role as head of charities at Baring Asset Management to join Rathbone Investment Management.
In making the switch, Codrington will join former Barings colleague James Brennan, whose appointment at Rathbones was announced last week.
Codrington (pictured) spent 9 years at Barings, following spells at Deutsche Asset Management, Lazard Brothers and Teather & Greenwood Investment Management.
A spokesman for Barings said Codrington decided to look for other opportunities after the firm’s charity business was integrated into its instituional sales team.
Previously the charities team had been in Barings' private client business, until this section was sold as it was considered “non-core business”.
Barings has looked internally for Codrington’s replacement, with Andrew Benton taking over strategic responsibility for the charities business.
Catherine Booth meanwhile has assumed responsibility for day-to-day sales activity and Malcolm Herring will lead the charities investment management team.
