Rob Wilson, minister for civil society, will be opening the tenth annual Charity Finance Summit this October, which will also include a closing keynote from Simon Hopkins, chief executive of Turn2Us.
The programme, which has now been confirmed, will feature streams on vat and tax, strategy and risk, and investment. It will take place on 18 October 2016.
Sessions include Mark Lever, chief executive of National Autistic Society, talking about impact and finance as drivers of organisational change, and Kevin Barnes, treasurer for Charity Finance Group and congregational chief executive at the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth Generalate, talking about communicating effectively with the board.
The opening keynote from Wilson will be on the state of the sector. Hopkins will be considering the role of the finance director in coaching the chief executive to ensure that strategic financial leadership permeates the entire organisation.
Other sessions include those focused on grants versus contracts, property taxes, printing and VAT on direct mail, and where charities should be investing. There is also the chance to join the SORP committee in giving feedback on the new SORPs.
Gareth Jones, editor of Charity Finance, said: “Designed to ensure your finance function is fit for the future, this one-day conference will open with an interactive session exploring the current state of the sector from the minister for civil society.
“It will go on to explore topical issues such as cultivating a risk-intelligent culture and strengthening financial governance, while also offering a comprehensive round-up of the latest developments in gift aid, charity taxation and investment strategies.”
