Disability equality charity Scope and anti-food waste charity FareShare have both announced partnerships with major corporations.

Scope is partnering with Evri, one of the UK’s largest parcel delivery companies, which has pledged to donate £125,000 to the charity.

Meanwhile, Fareshare is collaborating with multinational accountancy firm KPMG, which has agreed to provide £2m worth of support over the next three years.

Scope and Evri

Scope described its collaboration with Evri as the “first partnership of its type” in the sector, with the two organisations planing to work together to promote better disability inclusion in the logistics industry.

It will focus on creating a more accessible and inclusive workplace for disabled Evri employees, as well as customers.

Scope plans to support Evri to audit its practices and understand what it needs to do to improve, as well as work with the firm to create training packages.

Evri, for its part, will donate £125,000 to support Scope and its work.

Amanda Mitchell, executive director of fundraising at Scope said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Evri. There are 16 million disabled people in the UK, reflecting a huge proportion of Evri’s customers and workforce.

“Our employment experts will be working with Evri to support them in becoming a more accessible and inclusive business for their employees and customers.

“We are encouraged that Evri is prioritising addressing disability inequality in its business and is committed to learning and improving its practices. It’s only by working together that we will achieve real social change and can create an equal future for disabled people.”

Evri has vowed to become the “most accessible” parcel delivery company in the UK and has improved doorstep deliveries for people with disabilities, who it estimates account for one in four of its home deliveries.

FareShare and KPMG

Meanwhile, FareShare’s partnership with KPMG will see the major accountancy firm’s 18,000 staff members provide £2m worth of support to FareShare over the next three years by fundraising, volunteering, pro bono and thought leadership contributions.

For every £1 that KPMG raises, FareShare will reportedly be able to redistribute the equivalent of five meals to local communities through its network of 35 regional centres around the country.

George Wright, FareShare’s chief executive, said: “We are thrilled to have been selected by KPMG staff for their three-year charity partnership.

“KPMG has been at the forefront of consulting, and their charitable impact makes this an outstanding opportunity for FareShare.

“Their support will enable us to redistribute even more good-to-eat surplus food that would otherwise go to waste, helping us address food insecurity while tackling the environmental issue of food waste.

“This food supports over 8,000 charities and helps fuel wraparound services such as homelessness shelters, after-school clubs, and lunch programmes for older people.

“With food insecurity affecting one in six people in the UK, this partnership will help us reach more communities across the country, ensuring that surplus food nourishes and strengthens those communities for the future.”
