Message Trust staff collecting Top 100 not-for-profit award

Manchester-based youth charity The Message Trust has been named as the best not-for-profit organisation to work for in the UK, according to the Sunday Times.

The Sunday Times published its best 100 companies list over the weekend. With data taken from over 261,000 employee surveys across the country, the Sunday Times have compiled a number of ‘Best’ lists, of which one is the 100 best not-for-profit organisation to work for in 2018.

The Message Trust, a registered Christian youth charity based in Manchester, has been named as the best not-for-profit to work for in the country, having been ranked in second place in last year’s top 100.

The ranking system is decided by survey responses to a number of questions, regarding how employees feel about their organisation’s leadership teams, their own scope for personal growth within the organisation, their pay and benefits and how their organisation looks after their health and wellbeing.

The not-for-profit category includes public sector bodies, charities and housing associations “of all sizes”.

Other charities on the list include the National Trust, which was ranked as the 16th best not-for-profit to work for in the UK; blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan in 51st and London-based homelessness charity Thames Reach in 87th.

Speaking at The Sunday Times' Top 100 gala awards night last week, Andy Hawthorne, founder of The Message Trust, said: “There’s never been a more exciting time for us as an organisation – we’re growing faster than ever before,’ comments Hawthorne. ‘It’s incredible to think that we’ve literally gone from working out of a spare bedroom to the global movement we are today, reaching hundreds of thousands of people a year.”

This is the 18th edition of The Sunday Times’s best 100 not-for-profit organisations to work for list. The full list of the top 100 not-for-profits can be read here
