Two international children’s charities have announced a partnership which will involve one organisation closing its UK office.

Kids Club Kampala, a children’s charity with a Christian ethos, will partner with the Mango Tree in a bid to enhance the organisations’ impact for children in East Africa.

After a “thorough evaluation and a collaborative partnership process”, both organisations have agreed upon a partnership that involves the closure of the Mango Tree’s UK offices.

Kids Club Kampala will work with the Mango Tree Kenya to continue its operations in addressing the needs of children in Homabay County, in western Kenya.

The partnership, scheduled to begin in April 2025, involves Kids Club Kampala formally taking on the administration of the Mango Tree’s overseas education programmes in East Africa, according to the Mango Tree’s website

‘Principles are strongly aligned’

Olivia Barker White, chief executive of Kids Club Kampala, said: “We are so excited about this opportunity to further our collective impact.

“Having visited Kenya and spoken with the team at the Mango Tree, it is clear that our vision, values, and principles are strongly aligned.

“This partnership allows us to combine our resources and expertise to create even more life-changing opportunities for children across East Africa.”

The partnership will provide free education to vulnerable children across Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Kids Club Kampala recorded a total income of £666,000 for the financial year ending 31 December 2023. It has six employees, nine trustees and 20 volunteers, according to the latest record on the commission’s website.

Meanwhile, the Mango Tree saw a total income of £465,000 for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 with a total of seven trustees.
