Media Trust has launched a free volunteer platform to connect charities with skilled media and creative professionals.
The platform matches charities with Media Trust’s volunteers who range from freelance filmmakers to marketing directors and social media strategists.
All volunteers on the platform have at least two years of professional experience working in media, digital, technology or communications.
They can support charities by mentoring them to develop strategies and campaigns, creating content or training staff, volunteers and beneficiaries.
Media Trust said the service “bridges a critical gap by offering charities access to expert communications support, supporting them to amplify their message and impact across a competitive media landscape”.
‘Rising demand of communications and digital marketing work’
Su-Mei Thompson, chief executive of Media Trust, said: “Many charities have limited resources to meet the rising demand of communications and digital marketing work, often unable to hire full-time staff or external agencies.
“This new platform offers a unique solution. By connecting charities with experienced media professionals, charities are able to strengthen their voice and, in turn, better serve their beneficiaries.”
Rebekah Wilson, communications officer and volunteer coordinator at the Wish Centre, said: “The Media Trust volunteer platform is an invaluable resource.
“As a small charity with limited resources, this service allows us access to skills we simply wouldn’t be able to buy.
“The volunteers are super helpful, personable and knowledgeable.”
