Big Give, Global’s Make Some Noise and NCVO – Small Charity Week match funding

Grants available: Charities seeking to raise £500, £1,000, £2500, £5,000 or £10,000 in public donations, to be doubled by match funds.
Deadline to apply: 2 April.
Who is the funding for?
The Small Charity Week match funding campaign is a seven-day online campaign that will run from 23 to 30 June and aim to support small UK charities with an annual income between £5,000 and £1m. The funds raised through the campaign will provide successful applicants with unrestricted funding to help them tackle social challenges across the UK.
When will you hear back? 7 May.

Defra – Tackling Food Surplus at the Farm Gate

Grants available: From £20,000.
Deadline to apply: 13 March 2025.
Who is the funding for?
Food redistribution charities are invited to apply for a new £15m government scheme which aims to ensure surplus food is delivered to those who need it. Bids must outline how applicants intend to form relationships with farmers to access surplus food and how they would increase their capacity to redistribute this food to communities. The funding can be used to purchase new packaging and labelling equipment and vehicles to move goods from farms to a redistribution organisation as well as new equipment such as fridges or freezers.

Jeans for Genes – Grant programme

Grants available: Single-year grants of £5,000 and up to £20,000.
Deadline to apply: 14 March.
Who is the funding for?
The Jeans for Genes grant programme has two funding strands that aim to support genetic condition charities that have been registered with one of the UK authorities for at least 18 months. The core cost funding strand is designed to increase small charities’ ability to sustain, grow and provide their services and advocacy in the long term. The project funding strand aims to help tackle complex issues affecting the genetic condition community such as delayed diagnosis, a lack of treatment options and mental health issues.
When will you hear back? Unsuccessful applicants will be notified in April.

Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority and Veolia – Zero Waste Community Fund 

Grants available: Up to £8,000 for projects running in one of six districts or £30,000 for projects delivered across the Liverpool City Region.
Deadline to apply: 9 March.
Who is the funding for?
The annual £165,000 Zero Waste Community Fund is open to community and voluntary groups, social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations which have projects that minimise household waste, maximise recycling and resource reuse and mitigate carbon emissions. Bids must tackle one or more of the following priority household waste materials: waste electrical and electronic equipment; food; textiles; plastics; and furniture. 
When will you hear back? Decisions are to be made by mid-April.
