Energy Saving Trust and Ofgem – Energy Redress Scheme

Grants available: Between £20,000 and £2m (four funding streams).
Deadline to apply: 5pm on 15 January 2025.
Who is the funding for? 
Charities and community energy groups across England, Scotland and Wales, with a total of £40m available. The grants aim to support vulnerable people with their energy bills, innovative energy-related products or services and projects that empower individuals to lower their carbon emissions.
The main fund (£27m) and the small project fund (£1m) are for projects seeking grants between £50,000 and £2m and £20,000 and £49,999, respectively, that will help households in vulnerable situations. The innovation fund (£6m) offers grants between £20,000 and £1m for projects that will develop innovative products or services to benefit households. The carbon emissions reduction fund (£6m) offers grants between £20,000 and £1m and is aimed at projects that will reduce UK carbon emissions and empower households to reduce their carbon footprint. 
When will you hear back? Eight to 10 weeks following a funding round closing.

Create Equity, Social Investment Business and the Ubele Initiative – Flexible Finance Fund

Grants available: Mixed grant and loan, between £50,000 and £1.5m.
Deadline to apply: Unspecified.
Who is the funding for? 
Black and racially minoritised-led charities and social enterprises primarily constituted for social benefit improving people’s lives or the environments they live in. 
This blended fund looks to tackle the unique challenges these organisations face and help them drive their social impact.
It provides a flexible grant and support alongside a loan from the Recovery Loan Fund. The grant can match up to 100% of the loan value, which is capped at £200,000. The loan ranges from £50,000 to £1.5m and can be repaid over one to six years.
When will you hear back? 
Once an application has been received, initial contact is made within three working days and up to seven working days during exceptionally busy times.

Veolia Environmental Trust – Several schemes

Grants available: Between £10,000 and £75,000.
Deadline to apply: 12pm on 7 January 2025.
Who is the funding for? 
Constituted not-for-profit organisations and environmental bodies (EBs) can apply for the Community Grant Scheme for funding between £10,000 and £75,000. The scheme aims to create or improve buildings or outdoor spaces for the benefit of the community, with the maximum project size eligible for funding being £350,000.
Registered EBs can apply for nature conservation grants, which range between £10,000 and £75,000. These grants are for projects that protect and enhance biodiversity and natural habitats, inspire the creation of a sustainable carbon-neutral space and promote community action and wellbeing. The maximum project size eligible for funding is £350,000.
Meanwhile, environmental improvement grants of £75,000 are being offered to organisations whose projects will result in a landscape-scale improvement to the environment such as habitat creation/management and/or species protection.

Big Give – Green Match Fund 2025

Grants available: Up to £10,000 and £50,000.
Deadline to apply: 17 January 2025.
Who is the funding for? 
Big Give’s match funding campaign will support charities that tackle environmental issues such as waste elimination and is run in partnership with the Environmental Funders Network. 
The campaign runs from 22 to 29 April 2025 and uses a multi-model of match funding. Applicants can select Big Give’s 1:1 (for up to £10,000 of funding) or pledge model of match funding (for up to £50,000 of funding) for their campaign.
Successful charities will be awarded a sum of ring-fenced match funding which will be unlocked by public donations given through Big Give’s online fundraising platform during the week of the campaign.
When will you hear back? 14 February 2025 for the pledge deadline and 5 March 2025 for the offer deadline.
