In this fortnightly column we look at the funding pots available to the charity sector. This week, Bank of Scotland Foundation and NLCF opened for grant applications.

National Lottery Community Fund – Awards for All England

Grants available: Up to £10,000
Deadline to apply: Ongoing 
Who is the funding for? Charities, charitable incorporated organisations (CIO), community interest companies (CIC) and more based in England are being invited to apply for grants of between £300 - £10,000 for up to one year. 

The funder is prioritisising funding organisations with smaller incomes. NLCF is looking to fund projects that support communities to thrive and build strong relationships or commemorate national events like the 75th anniversary of Windrush on 22 June.

Bank of Scotland Foundation – Invest Programme

Grants available: £10,000 - £50,000 per year
Deadline to apply: 6 March
Who is the funding for? The Invest programme is looking to fund projects by charities registered in Scotland that support disadvantage or social exclusion. 

This can include charities with missions of homelessness, mental health, poverty and those working with people facing exclusionary challenges like drug users, the elderly,  people with disabilities and more. 

Charities can apply for funding for project work, core costs, capital costs and more. Eligible applicants must have an annual income of between £50,000 and £1m and have three years of annual returns approved by the Scottish charity regulator (OSCR).

The Chester Bluecoat Charity

Grants available: up to £2,000
Deadline to apply: N/A
Who is the funding for? The Chester Bluecoat Charity is inviting community organisations based in and around Chester to apply for grants through its small or strategic grant schemes. 

It is particularly keen to hear from organisations that work with children and young people. 

Organisations can apply for strategic funding of at least £2,000 or a small grant of less than £500. 

The grant-giving charity awarded more than £240,000 to local causes last year, including £20,000 to Chester Zoo.

Merseyside Recycling & Waste Authority Community Fund

Grants available: Between £1,000 - £30,000 
Deadline to apply: 26 March
Who is the funding for? The funding put of £165,000 is available to community groups, schools, and not-for-profit organisations in the Liverpool City Region to reduce household waste, encourage recycling and prevent carbon emissions. 

There is up to £30,000 available for projects that cover a minimum of three City Regions and between £1,000 - £8,000 for projects that work with one sole authority.
