A summary of the latest announcements about grant programmes available to charities

The Your Best Friend Fund

Grants available: £1,000 – £10,000

Deadline to apply: 18 February 2022

Who is the funding for?
The Your Best Friend fund is a project that wants to increases the understanding of healthy and unhealthy relationships. It aims to identify this so people can keep their friends safe from abusive or toxic relationships. 

The funding is available to charities and community groups in England and Wales who are creating projects that support these aims.

4-6 weeks

Ford Britain Trust

Grants available: Small grants of £250 four times a year

Deadline to apply: 28 February 2022 

Who is the funding for?
Ford Britain Trust is open for grant applications from charitable organisations and schools. 

Grants supporting the following activities will be considered:

  • Work that benefits the local community
  • Special education needs
  • People with disabilities
  • Education/schools
  • Work with young people and children

Larger grants of up to £3,000 are available later this year. Ford Britain Trust also allows grants for IT equipment, such as laptops, smart boards, projectors and iPads.

Recovery Loan Fund

Grants available: up to £2m

Deadline to apply: 20 May 2022

Who is the funding for?
The Recovery Loan Fund has been extended so it is now accepting applications until May. Charities and non-profit organisations are welcome to apply for the government-guaranteed loans. 

It will be backing charities that want to adapt delivery models, diversify income streams, manage cash flow, or purchase new technology. 

BAME-led organisations will be able to apply for loans upwards of £50,000.

Blagrave - Funding young people in policy-making 

Grants available: £30,000 - £50,000

Deadline to apply: 25 February 2022

Who is the funding for?
Charities and non-profit organisations in England that are supporting young people (aged 16 - 25) with experience of social injustice to be heard in policy-making processes. 

Blagrave expects to fund ten grants of between £30,000 - £50,000. 

When will you hear back?
April 2022

British and Foreign School Society (BFSS) 

Grants available: £30,000 - £100,000

Deadline to apply: 13 July

Who is the funding for? 
The BFSS's grant programme will be funding projects that aim to improve the educational outcomes and life chances of young carers under the age of 25 in the UK. 

Registered charities, alongside schools and academies, are encouraged to apply. The funding available should be used to help young carers access further education, employment or training opportunities and improve support for them. 

UK charities that have an income between £25,000 - £2.5m are able to apply. Charities must have ate least three years of continuous accounts submitted to a regulator. 

The fund is giving priority to projects that prioritise reverting the impact of Covid-19 on Young Carers and Care Experienced Young People.
