Our weekly summary of the latest movers in the charity sector.
Chief executive
Tim Hollingsworth has been appointed chief executive of Sport England, the public body that helps people to get active and play sport. He replaces Jennie Price, who has led the organisation for 11 years.
Hollingsworth is currently chief executive of the British Paralympic Association, and will begin his new role in November.
Paul Boissier, chief executive of the RNLI, has announced that he will retire in 2019 after ten years leading the lifeboat charity. In a statement RNLI said Boissier’s plans to retire during the summer of 2019 were long-held, and said that the role had been “challenging, humbling and heart-warming in equal measure”. Fundraising
Liz Tait has been appointed director of fundraising at Teenage Cancer Trust. She will join the charity from animal charity Battersea, where she has spent eight years in the same role.
Tait takes over from Kate Collins who was promoted to chief executive earlier this year. Read more here.
Matthew Gorman has been appointed director of development for King’s College London and King’s Health Partners. The development department at King’s is responsible for fundraising for three partners: King’s College London, King’s Health Partners and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust Charity.
Gorman, who most recently worked for CRUK, will start the role in September.
Non-executive
The Association of Charitable Foundations has appointed Janet Morrison as its new chair. Morrison will take over the role in November from Amanda Jordan, who has held the role since 2014.
Morrison is currently the chair of the Baring Foundation, and is also chair and founder of the Campaign to End Loneliness. She is also director of Reconnections Ltd.
Her appointment comes alongside that of David Renton, director of finance and investment at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity, who will take up the role of treasurer at ACF.
Smart Works Birmingham, which supports women back into work in the region through dressing and interview coaching services, has appointed three new trustees.
Philippa Pickavance, who founded Philippa Pickavance Real Estate, has become the charity’s chair, while Victoria Camfield, from Squire Patton Boggs, and Jilly Cosgrave, from Barques Design, have been appointed trustees.
