Paralympian joins Vista
The Paralympic champion Libby Clegg has joined Vista, a Leicester-based sight loss charity, as its community fundraiser.
Clegg has Stargardt’s Macular Dystrophy disease, giving her only slight peripheral vision in one eye. She has represented Scotland and Great Britain in the Paralympics, and was the first blind contestant to star on Dancing on Ice.
Kate Naish, director of business development, and income generation at Vista said: “I am delighted to have Libby in the team. She has an enthusiasm and passion which is infectious and being able to talk to donors about her lived experience of sight loss is invaluable to the team.”
New CEO for Read Easy UK
Adult literacy charity Read Easy UK has appointed Carla Priddon as its new chief executive. She succeeds founder of the charity Ginny Williams-Ellis, who is retiring at the end of March after nearly 11 years in office. Priddon will be taking over the role on 1 April, after a six-week handover period.
Priddon has been working in the charity sector for over 15 years. She started her career as a community fundraising co-ordinator at Harlington Hospice, and most recently was CEO for The Way Wolverhampton Youth Zone for almost five years.
GOSH Charity appoints director of marketing and communications
The Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity) has appointed Emma Guise as its first director of marketing and communications.
She joins from Macmillan Cancer Support, where worked for over 10 years. Her time at Macmillan spanned four roles – she began as head of media and finished as director of communications. Guise was deputy head of media at Shelter for seven years, after gaining experience in the sector at Stroke Association and Scope.

New director of people for Royal Voluntary Service
Jim Gardner has been appointed director of people at the Royal Voluntary Service.
Gardner is chief executive of university of Southampton Student’s Union. He was a trustee of NUS charitable services for four years and has worked on several student union boards.
Two new trustees for The Felix Project
The Felix Project, a food poverty charity, has appointed two new trustees to its board.
Asi Panditharatna is the executive director for employment services at the Forward Trust, a charity that helps people with drug and alcohol addictions. He was a member of the Mayor of Sadiq Khan’s Skills for Londoner’s Task Force and is currently a trustee of the youth charity Think Forward.
Karin Woodley has been the chief executive of Cambridge House since 2013. She has worked in the charity sector for 35 years, with experience at ContinYou, the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust and the Tabernacle Centre for Arts and Learning. Woodley was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2021.
Mencap appoints new people director
Adrian Blair has been appointed as Mencap’s new people director and will take up the role on 19 April.
He joins from Diabetes UK, where he is currently the director of people and organisational development. He has been in the charity sector for over ten years, with experience as a director at World Vision and trustee at Ridgeway Centre Trust and New Life Church Milton Keynes.
New chair for London Air Ambulance Charity
Bob Forsyth has been appointed the London Air Ambulance Charity’s new chair after being a trustee of the charity since 2017. He succeeds Mark Vickers, who retires at the end of March after seven years in the role.
Forsyth has been with the charity for over five years, and chaired its audit and risk committee board for four. He is a senior assurance partner at Ernst & Young LLP.
Toynbee Hall welcomes new chair
London poverty charity Toynbee Hall has announced Stephen Burns as its new chair after an open recruitment process. He takes over from Julian Corner, who is stepping down after six years in post.
Burns is executive director for care and communities at Peabody, a housing non-profit organisation. He has worked with the charity for 24 years in various roles.
Muna Yassin, chief executive of the charity Fair Money Advice, has been appointed as a trustee. She was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 2021 Birthday Honours for charitable financial Services to Disadvantaged People during Covid-19.
Teenage Cancer Trust appoints new trustee
Teenage Cancer Trust has announced Vimi Grewal-Carr is now a trustee of the charity.
Grewal-Carr is a Deloitte global clients and industries leader that advocates for equity, inclusion and diversity. She has founded the London Women’s Forum and the 30% Club. Previously, she was a member of the Teenage Cancer Trust’s corporate development board.
Grewal-Carr joins a group of nine trustees at the charity. She said: “I’m delighted to be joining the board of Teenage Cancer Trust at such an important time.
“As we emerge from the pandemic, the charity is committed to ensuring every young person with cancer has the best treatment, care and support. I feel strongly that our services should be accessible to all young people with cancer, where no one is left behind, and I look forward to playing my role in achieving that aim.”
SPANA welcomes new trustees
The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad (SPANA) has announced three new board members – Marianne Davies, Adam Firby and Daniella Dos Santos.
- Marianne Davies is global head of people services at pharmaceutical company GSK. She is also an independent committee member on the equality, inclusion and diversity committee at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
- Adam Firby is senior human resources director for Molson Coors Beverage Company. Previously, he held senior roles in Marks and Spencer, Britvic Soft Drinks and the Royal Mail Group.
- Daniella Dos Santos is a veterinary surgeon. Dos Santos has been worked with animal charities since 2016. Currently, she is a trustee of Petplan Charitable Trust. Formerly, she was a board member of the British Veterinary Association (BVA) for over six years.
Carers Worldwide welcomes its first ambassador
Chris Underhill has become the charity’s first ambassador, after being Carers Worldwide’s founding chair of trustees. The news comes at the start of the charity’s 10th anniversary.
Underhill is a social entrepreneur and mentor. He founded BasicNeeds, a mental-health charity, was the chair of Spring Impact and Ashden. He was awarded an MBE in 2000 for his services to disability and development.
Carers Worldwide founder Anil Patil said: “We are delighted that Chris Underhill has accepted our invitation to become an ambassador for Carers Worldwide. As our founding chair of trustees, Chris has played a pivotal role in the development of the organisation and of our vision for the future of family carers globally. Our trustees, staff and partners are greatly looking forward to working with him as we continue on our journey towards securing positive change for unpaid family carers in low- and middle-income countries.”
