Chief executive
Emma Revie has been appointed chief executive of The Trussel Trust. She succeeds David McAuley, who left the foodbank charity in the summer.
She joins the charity from Ambition, a national membership body for organisations working with young people, and will take up her role in February 2018.
Ambition merged with UK Youth in the autumn.
The CareTech Charitable Foundation has appointed Jonathan Freeman as its first chief executive.
The first independent grant-making charitable corporate foundation in the care sector has appointed Freeman, who was former managing director of Mosaic, HRH The Prince of Wales's mentoring charitable initiative, as its interim chief executive.
Fundraising
Allchurches Trust, one of the UK’s major grantmaking trusts, has appointed James Laing as director of grants and relationships.
Currently general secretary of the Council of Lutheran Churches (CLC) in London, James will advise Allchurches Trust’s board on the strategic development of its grants programmes, develop the trust’s relations with an increasingly wide range of beneficiaries and lead its team of grants officers.
Last year, Allchurches Trust gave more than £13m to churches, charities and communities across the UK and Ireland.
Governance
Acevo has appointed six new trustees to its board. The umbrella body for chief executives had held elections for five board vacancies, 12 new candidates were nominated and one existing trustee sought re-election. Two candidates polled the same number of votes for the fifth seat and the board has decided to appoint both.
The new trustees are: Menai Owen-Jones, chief executive of The Pituitary Foundation; Jehangir Malik, chief executive of Muslim Aid; Ruth Marks, chief executive of Wales Council for Voluntary Action; David Smith, chief executive of Hull and East Yorkshire Mind; Sue Tibbalds, chief executive of the Sheila McKechnie Foundation; and Clare White, chief executive of Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
The Disabilities Trust has appointed Steve Howell as its new chair.
Steve joined the charity as a trustee in 2002 and is a former global head of information security and business continuity for a major US Bank. He takes over as chair from Peter Jackson, who is retiring after serving as a trustee since 2005.
Medical research charity LifeArc, the medical research charity, has strengthened its board by appointing three new trustees: Aisling Burnand, MBE, chief executive of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC); Daniel Morgan; and Jessica Mann, company head, Cardiovascular Development Consulting, GmbH.
