Who’s Moving: Oxfam GB, Mencap, Clink and more announce latest movers

Our weekly summary of the latest movers in the charity sector.

Chief executive

Oxfam GB has appointed Dhananjayan Sriskandarajah as its new chief executive, taking over from Mark Goldring at the end of 2018.

Sriskandarajah is currently secretary general and chief executive of CIVICUS, the Johannesburg-based global alliance of civil society organisations and activists with members in more than 180 countries.

He joined CIVICUS in 2013 and was previously director general of the Royal Commonwealth Society.

Danyal Satter has been appointed chief executive of Big Issue Invest, the social investment arm of the Big Issue. Sattar previously held the role of head of social investment at The Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

He will take over the role in December 2018, alongside Daniel Wilson-Dodd, currently head of lending, who will take on the role of deputy chief executive.


Operations

Mencap has appointed John Verge director of Golden Lane Housing. Founded by Mencap in 1998, the independent charity Golden Lane Housing (GLH) houses more than 100 people with a learning disability in supported living arrangements every year, empowering them to live the life they want within their community.

Verge has been with GLH since 2000, and became head of development in 2014.


Help Musicians UK (HMUK) has appointed Liz Stokes to communications and PR manager and Alex Mann as its external affairs manager. Both roles are newly created within the communications team.


Fundraising

Mencap has appointed Colman Cawe to the role of director of income generation. Cawe joined Mencap in 2016 as head of corporate partnerships, and has held the role of interim director of income generation since June 2017.

Cawe has previously held fundraising positions at the British Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, NSPCC and Leukemia and Lymphoma Research (now Bloodwise).


Non executive

Roma Hooper has been appointed chair of Clink. She will take up the role at Clinks, which supports the voluntary sector working in the criminal justice system. Hooper will take over the role from Dame Anne Owers after the charity’s AGM in November.


The Medical Research Foundation has appointed Professor Moira Whyte and Dr Lesley Sherratt to its board of trustees for an initial term of three years. 

Whyte is the Sir John Crofton professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Edinburgh and the head of the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. Sherratt is a director of Temple Bar Investment Trust and lectures in business ethics at King’s College.
