Chief executive
Which?, the operating name of the Consumers’ Association charity, has appointed Anabel Hoult as chief executive.
Hoult, who was chief operating officer at Save the Children from 2010 to 2015 before working as transformation director at Dixons Carphone Warehouse, will begin her new role on 1 October.
Hoult succeeds Peter Vicary-Smith, who announced his departure in May after 14 years as chief executive to pursue a “portfolio career”.
The Nursing & Midwifery Council has appointed Sue Killen as interim chief executive and registrar. Killen stood down as chief executive of St John Ambulance last September, where she had been for ten years.
Before that, she held a range of senior roles in the civil service including as a director general.
Killen replaces Jacki Smith, who leaves her role at the end of this month after six years in the role. The charity is currently recruiting for a permanent chief executive and registrar.
Children’s charity Variety has appointed Frances Lang as chief executive, who will start the role in September.
She was most recently interim chief executive at the Media Trust charity. Prior to joining the charity sector, she was a partner in a private equity business.
Since qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1994, she has worked for companies such as MTV, News Corp and Publicis Groupe in London, Hong Kong and Paris.
Lang replaces Sarah Nancollas, who is now chief executive of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Deafblindness charity Sense has promoted group director of finance and resources Kris Murali to deputy chief executive. He replaces Richard Kramer, who was promoted to chief executive earlier this year.
Fundraising
Acorns Children’s Hospice has appointed Noel Cramer as its director of supporter engagement. He will be joining Acorns from St George’s Hospital Charity in London where he is currently director of fundraising and marketing.
Cramer is due to take up the post from 1 October from the current director Louise Arnold.
The Eden Project has appointed Alessio di Capua as its first director of philanthropy. He has joined the charity from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, where he was leading on fundraising efforts in the USA as executive director of Kew Foundation America.
Non-executive roles
Mental health charity Mind has announced that Stevie Spring will be joining as chair of the trustee board from December 2018.
Spring, who has until recently been chair of Children in Need, replaces Ryan Campbell, who is stepping down after nine years.
