A healthcare charity has removed Nadhim Zahawi from its list of patrons following his sacking as Conservative Party chairman.
Prime minister Rishi Sunak removed Zahawi from government yesterday after an ethics investigation found he had failed to disclose an investigation into his tax affairs.
Last Friday, Kissing It Better had Zahawi displayed on its website as a patron, but he has since been removed from the charity’s ‘About’ page.
Zahawi’s patronship is no longer filed on the politician’s register of interests page, whereas it was listed a few months ago.
Kissing It Better works with students and schoolchildren to provide companionship to residents and patients in hospitals and residential homes.
According to information filed with the Charity Commission, the organisation was formed in 2012 and has 4,000 volunteers a year. Its latest filed accounts state its most recent income as over £118,000.
Zahawi was named as a patron of the charity in its annual accounts and has been since the reporting years of 2017.
The charity’s other patrons are physician Dr Phil Hammond, novelist and poet Sir Andrew Motion and actress Sunny Ormonde.
Civil Society News contacted Kissing It Better and Zahawi's offices for comment but did not receive a response.
