Ged Flynn
Ged Flynn is the CEO of PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide.
Ged Flynn studied theology and philosophy in Durham before moving to Dublin where he gained a post graduate Diploma and later a first class honours Master of Arts degree in pastoral leadership. This gave him a particular interest in the effects of loss and grief, indeed all significant changes across the life cycle.
Having worked in residential youth work, he managed a Cheshire retreat and conference centre before moving to Liverpool to lead in community services for a large service provider in the northwest. There he managed a multidisciplinary support service offering community development services with older people, a floating support service for the single homeless as well as programmes to engage local communities in social justice issues.
After a short period in London where he directed the learning disability services of Westminster Diocese, Ged moved back up north to take the lead role at Catholic Children’s Society (Shrewsbury Diocese) where he developed services with children and families, particularly focusing on emotional health and wellbeing.
Ged has taken an active part in the development of a number of third sector partnerships and has been involved in local safeguarding and children’s trust initiatives.
He is a trustee of a charity which builds resilience among children, young people and adults following significant changes in their lives.
