Happy Friday, dearest reader! Have you ever done something that unintentionally raised a lot of money?
Diary once serenaded unsuspecting strangers with some ABBA renditions during a karaoke night, and one listener donated a large sum to the pub manager to “make it stop”.
In a somewhat more startling feat, US rapper Cardi B’s actions have raised $99,000 (£78,000) for charity after she threw a microphone at an audience member, for throwing a drink at her.
The infamous mic has now sold for the princely sum after being auctioned online by its owner, Scott Fisher. Fisher told CBS he initially hoped to sell it for $5,000 and was shocked by the final figure.
Funds raised will be donated to the charity Wounded Warrior Project and Friendship Circle Las Vegas, Fisher said.
In other news, Prince Harry told an audience in Tokyo this week that “my life is charity – always has been, always will be”.
Diary would like to thank the Duke of Sussex for inspiring its next tattoo with those sage words.
RNLI saves ungrateful cat
RNLI shared a video of a soggy cat being saved by an RNLI volunteer this week.
Unfortunately, the cat wasn't in the least bit grateful and was pawsitively angry about it (sorry).
He can be seen scrambling all over the volunteer's back in revenge. After a good scratching, the cat submitted rather begrudgingly to being rescued.
To celebrate International Cat Day (8 August), the charity’s video goes through some coastguard cats of the ages. They were particularly good at keeping ships free from mice and the crew meow-tivated (again, apologies).
It's not often we get called out to rescue cats, but anything is pawsible when it comes to our feline friends!

If you see a cat or any other animal in trouble at the coast, don’t attempt to rescue it yourself. Call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard. 🐈#InternationalCatDay pic.twitter.com/WpyH1b2hlK
Endangered piglets born at Edinburgh Zoo
Now, does Diary know anything at all about endangered species? Not really, but they are here to tell you that the one that has been born at this charity is incredibly cute, despite what their name suggests.
The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) saw four Visayan warty piglets born to their warty parents Nikki and Elvis this month.
Whether their children will also be named after famous singer-songwriters is yet to be announced.
Diary would like to suggest John, Paul, George, and Ringo so the warty pig kingdom can maintain its rock ‘n’ roll theme.
You can have a perusal at their little snouts in the video below.
Nikki & Elvis have welcomed FOUR adorable Visayan warty piglets! They're still dependant on mum & spending time inside at the moment 🐽💛

They are one of the rarest species of pig in the world, with as few as 200 remaining in the wild. Find out more 👉 https://t.co/XgoeXeiJtn pic.twitter.com/Rml5RVJ1Om
