Greetings readers and welcome to another week of - snow?
The weather took a turn for the quite frankly, weird, this week, with snow falling across the UK. Animal charities took the opportunity to snap photos of doggies frolicking in the stuff, whilst also issuing guidance on how to care for household pets during these chilly times.
Refugee charities unite
This week Suella Braverman announced the Tories new focus. Many gathered around, keen to hear how the party would be tackling the rising cost of living, rampant inflation, and the housing crisis. Well, Suella has the answer: small boats. Eh?
The government is running an Illegal Migration Bill through parliament. Social justice and refugee charities have expressed their distress at the decision. Refugee Action is calling them anti-refugee laws that are “inhumane, unworkable and costly” and have emphasised the country should be offering protection to refugees.

Charity hits out at sun (the paper, not the big one in the sky)
Oftentimes this columnist thinks ‘What is the most The Sun thing you have ever seen?’ It conjures up a range of unsavoury images that are not worth thinking about for too long. Perhaps a celebration of International Women’s Day via page 3 girls? Nope - something else.
What they have done, I'm sure you’ll be surprised to hear, is run a distasteful headline which a charity has said it was left less than impressed by.
A recent front page shows an image of Sophie Morgan, the first wheelchair user to go on Strictly, alongside the headline “Cha Cha Chair”.
Needless to say, people weren’t very pleased about this, particularly the disability charity Scope.
The charity tweeted: “For weeks we’ve heard rumours of a wheelchair user featuring on this year’s @BBCStrictly. And what a huge moment for disability representation it would be.
But then we saw @TheSun’s front page splash about the ground-breaking prospect. And we were less impressed.”

Panda bus
Edinburgh Zoo, of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) is bidding farewell to its beloved pandas Yang Guang and Tian Tian, as they are to return to China as early as October.
Naturally, it is planning to bid the animals farewell with a panda-themed bus. Will the pandas be on the bus, I hear you ask? Unfortunately, no, but there will be a photo of the panda on the side of it, which Diary admits now seems a lot less exciting compared to the former.
The charity has launched a series of prize draws for a chance to feed Yang Guang. Tian Tian was not specified, so presumably the poor panda will go hungry. Or he has been put on a diet, which would be very rude. Granted, they are giant pandas, but they still have feelings.
