Greetings, dear reader, on this unusually sunny Friday. Blissful, is it not?
Well, yes, until you have the frightening realisation that the warm weather is a result of climate change and the earth warming to exceedingly high and dangerous temperatures. But yes, enjoy your cool drink in the sun while it lasts.
And yes, actually, Diary is extremely fun at parties and never spoils the mood.
Puffin parade
Diary could not find any more penguin news this week, but has a puffin update instead.
Some 14 massive puffin sculptures were auctioned off for charity last week. The Puffins Galore project featured 42 large hand-painted puffins that were dotted across locations in east Yorkshire in efforts to raise awareness of the endangered animal and encourage tourism to the area.
The sale of 14 of them raised £94,000 for four charities: RNLI, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, RSPB and Hornsea Inshore Rescue.
This diarist asks where the remaining 28 puffins reside – are they still dotted around the coast, or have they been left to waddle around unsupervised? Will they be found in people’s back gardens, looming like some sort of colourful omen?
The website for Puffins Galore is yet to answer these important questions. Diary hopes to encounter the Pirate Puffin or Mr Suit (not their real names) to find out the answers.
At £6,000, Hilary and Alan Chapman were the very happy winning bidders of Swim, Dive, Catch by children at New Pasture Lane Primary School and Joy Verda sponsored by @KCOMhome

Sheep in bag
In other animal-related news, RSPCA rescued a sheep in Pembrokeshire whose parkour career had gone too far.
The free-running sheep had been residing on the edge of a sea cliff. Luckily, RSPCA volunteers turned up to save the day and manoeuvred the little guy to the secure land at the top of the cliff.
Doing so meant he had to be placed in a bag, which must have been humiliating, but the sheep looked unphased.
Behind those eyes, it is probably planning his next stunt, which may or may not include returning to said cliff for more media attention.

Given the dangerous terrain, we're glad that the sheep was unhurt, and was later released at the top of the cliff on hard land 💙

Princess of Wales beaten at noughts and crosses
This week the Daily Mail reported that Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, met young people supported by the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.
The newspaper was very interested by Kate’s blazer, which they said cost £359, but Diary was more occupied by the line stating that the princess lost to Dame Kelly Holmes in a giant game of beanbag noughts and crosses.
This is hilarious to Diary, but seems a little unfair, the Olympian was surely bound to beat the princess because of her sporting background. Is this what she’s been training for post retirement?
You might be royal, but you can still be terrible at noughts and crosses, it seems. (Note to editor: is that treason? Will Diary still have a head next week? Tune in next time to find out).
